Is the brain the best model?

Vision is a potentially fruitful area for research. It is a fairly well defined area and a good one for research into understanding the brain.
However, is the brain always a good model system? The brain solves many complex problems better than current computer systems, but human vision systems do make mistakes; computer systems generally are consistent.
In addition, are current computer science and technology the best starting points? We tend to work and think about things in terms of technology that we understand today, whereas these things are imprecise; these factors together make for an incomplete solution.
We can probably also say that any model we wish to develop will never reach perfection, although hopefully we will get closer and closer
